I hope you find these programs useful
and would like to hear if you like them. But if they don't work
for you I'm afraid I can't say when (or if) the bug will be fixed. I would like to hear if you
have any suggestions for improvements or suggestions for new programs
(but I don't promise anything :-)). Due to the amount of spam I get the best way to
contact me is to use the mailroom, otherwise it is possible the spam filter may delete your email
since nothing is 100% fool proof :-(.
These programs are freeware for individuals
and companies. They are not ad-ware or spyware. Although they are totally free, a link
to this site on your home page, if you have one, would be welcome. You can use the button image below for
this.
Printer Changer has been featured in Lockergnome and on PC Plus magazine's CD.
Lan Dial has also been mentioned on PC Plus magazine's help pages.
- Mail Filter V1.00 (14k).
This program is my email filter program. It requires you have your own domain, that
you are using qmail for mail handling (although it might be possible to adapt it for others
since it is just scripts) and that
your domain host is the helpful type since it needs a entry in each email account's .qmail file.
My host 34sp is a helpful host :-).
Hence it won't suit everyone but since the cost of a domain and hosting is about £20 per
year it is not that expensive to get a domain and host just for email. The plus side is that as filtering occurs as
emails arrive your inbox never overflows. And, as it uses a combination of whitelists
and automatic replies you never delete a good email without someone knowing about it.
- ToDo list V2.03 (14k)
{Screen Shot}.
This program is a simple ToDo list and Reminder program. Unlike all (?) other
such program this one is a html page and makes use of Windows Active Desktop. The
list is thus always available on the desktop. ToDo items are always shown but Reminders
only appear 7, 14 or 28 days before they are due (selectable). Each item has a tick box
for when it is done. Tick the box and ToDo's are gone. Reminders, if their monthly
increment is not zero, are set to the same date + monthly increment. Hence Reminders
can be set to be monthly, quarterly, yearly, etc.. The list also includes a calendar
with weekends and UK holidays in red, and annual leave in green.

- Lan Dial V1.03 (326k)
{Screen Shot}.
The 1st function of this program is to sit in the Windows 9x/Me/NT/2K tray and dial
a phone number before connecting and another phone number after disconnecting.
This is for the UK (and others) system of call diversion. Together with
Online Call Manager and the
call divert service this enables calls not to be missed when online.
The 2nd function, where it gets its name, is to allow control of dialing
over a LAN. For this you also need the program below.
Online Call Manager is now in receivership, last
I heard. BT users could look at BT's Net Chat.
But this is just an overlay on top of Netmeeting and it will change your Netmeeting settings. Plus it
does not work if you have a network (and the software is dire).
- Lan Message V1.00 (300k)
{Screen Shot}.
This program work with Lan Dial. It sits in the Windows 9x/Me/NT/2K tray and
shows the current state of Lan Dial (i.e. connected or not) on its icon.
It can send commands to Lan Dial to dial or hang up. It also, as does
Lan Dial, acts as a Lan message system so it replaces winpopup.
- Printer Changer V4.00 (151k)
{Screen Shot}. The program sits in the Windows 9x/Me/NT/2K
tray and makes it easy to swap printers. As a plus it can also display
the date and it attempts to position itself next to the time.
- HPGLfix.zip V1.00 (98k). This fixes a bug in MS Word's
HPGL conversion filter where it fails to convert long strings of data points. All this
program does is insert Pen Up, Pen Down, commands when it
finds such a long string.
- Phone Book V1.06 (192k)
{Screen Shot}.
As the name suggests this is phone book and dialler. I
wrote this to use an old modem (1200 Baud!) I had as a
dialler as I could not find a program that would work at
1200 Baud. This will work at 2400 and 9600 as well. It
works on Windows 9x/Me/NT/2K and should work on Windows 3.1 as
well, although I have only tried it on 9x/Me. It has some
interesting features like tabs for grouping names,
sorting and others.
- Zip Search V1.00 (207k)
{Screen Shot}.
As the name suggests this program is for searching inside zips. Windows
find will search for text inside files but this fails more often than not
when the text is zipped. This program will do a text search inside zipped
files. You can specify the files to search (e.g. *.txt + *.doc + read.me) to
cut down on the extraction time, as well as the search string. You can search
subdirectories as well. The end result is a list of files which you can double
click to open with your associated zip program.
